GRILLZ. Imprint set
You can order an impression set from us. Each set consists of two impression trays. One for the upper jaw, which is the one with the closed palate piece in the middle, and one for the lower jaw, which has no central connecting piece.
Each set also contains 2 x 2 plastic containers filled with silicone. Half are blue and the other half are white. One blue and one white mass are always needed for an impression.
Impression Set Impression Guide
Our impression set allows you to create an impression of your teeth yourself.
However, we would like to point out that the easiest and safest way to get a perfect impression is to visit your dentist. We generally recommend a double-mix impression in a dental practice.
It is also advisable to make a check-up appointment with your dentist to ensure that your teeth are in good condition before having GRILLZ. made. When making the appointment, you should explain your needs and state that you will be bringing your own materials and only need brief assistance with the impression.
If your dentist is not familiar with GRILLZ. , rest assured that no teeth are worked on or damaged in the process of making the jewelry, and no adhesives are used. They are simply decorative attachments that leave the teeth intact.
Step 1
First, they look at the trays. There is one for the upper jaw and one for the lower jaw.
If you want your GRILLZ. to sit in your upper jaw later, the spoon with the palate piece is your friend.
If you want your GRILLZ. to be in your lower jaw, it is the one without the palate piece.
Take the correct spoon and put it in your mouth and place it on your teeth. This will give you a feel for the movement before you have to work under time pressure. Then wipe the spoon dry before you continue.
Step 2
After you have become familiar with the spoon, the next step is to prepare the silicone mass. To do this, take a blue and a white plastic container, open both and hold both silicones in your hand. The two masses must now be kneaded into a homogeneous mass in your hand within 45 seconds . It is important that the kneaded mass is a uniform color at the end. Experienced kneaders may need less than 45 seconds for this.
Once the mixture has been kneaded together, form it into a sausage shape in your hand. This sausage should be about 8 cm long and of even thickness. Now place the rolled mixture into the recess of the spoon so that it is filled to the brim. Make sure that nothing sticks out at the back of the spoon. These steps should also be done within 45 seconds to prevent the mixture from hardening too soon.
Step 3
Now take the filled spoon by the front holder, open your mouth wide and push the spoon into your mouth until your incisors are centered over the silicone compound and the spoon tongue, which you are holding the spoon with, is centered under the tip of your nose. A mirror can be helpful here. Only when the spoon is in the correct position, first press the spoon onto the teeth in the area of the molars and then move the spoon tongue towards the tip of the nose to press the remaining teeth into the silicone compound. Then press the spoon firmly with your thumbs in the upper jaw and your index fingers in the lower jaw and hold it in position with your fingers. It is important to press the teeth really deep into the compound down to the gums, especially in the area where the GRILLZ. will later be.
It is recommended to press the silicone into the gum area so that this important area can be clearly seen in the impression later.
Now you have to wait three minutes for the silicone to harden. While you wait, you can place the palms of your fingers on the tray to hold it in position. It is advisable to do this with your thumbs, especially in the upper jaw. But please do not press any more, just provide support. Otherwise you will not get a clean impression.
At this point we would like to point out that taking such an impression can be quite uncomfortable for some people, as the foreign body in the mouth can trigger a gag reflex. Don't panic. Breathe calmly through your nose and think about something else until the 3 minutes are up.
Step 4
The 3 minutes have passed, the silicone has now completely hardened and you can remove the spoon from your mouth. Don't worry if the spoon is stuck at first. This is normal. You can easily release it with a gentle rocking motion.
Now we come to the exciting part. Did your print turn out well?
Examine your impression carefully. First, check to see if there is any plastic from the tray showing anywhere in the area where your grillz will sit. This can usually happen on the inside wall of the tray. If it does, you may have bitten too close to the edge and will need to repeat the process.
Check print
Once everything is intact and there are no holes, you now need to check whether the teeth have been reproduced deep enough in the silicone and are completely visible. To do this, check whether there is a small depression above the tooth impression where the front of your teeth touched the silicone. This depression should be visible all the way around all of your teeth. This so-called "garland" is always visible where your tooth necks meet your gums. For us, this is an important indication of how your GRILLZ. need to be modeled so that they line up cleanly with your gums.
Do you see the garland clearly in your print? If not, you need to try again!
Take a look at the four pictures below. If your impression resembles any of these pictures, then unfortunately we cannot make custom grillz for you. You will have to try again.
And do you see a clear garland and no holes?
